In a state where everything stops around the play of the Arkansas Razorbacks, it's easy to forget about the successes of some of the other programs in the state. Don't get me wrong, I'm one of the biggest Razorback fans around, but I'm really excited to get to see another team play this weekend.
Sitting at 5-1 overall (4-0 Southland Conference play) and ranked in a tie for #18 in the Football Championship Series, the University of Central Arkansas Bears are on the track for high levels of success in 2016.
Entering back into the FCS Rankings last weekend while on their bye week, this week's 35-0 pummeling of Southland Conference rival McNeese State in Lake Charles, Louisiana solidified the Bears place right in the middle of the FCS Playoff Race.
McNeese State, projected as many to be the #2 team in the Southland Conference, went undefeated last season, during the regular season, losing to Sam Houston State in the second round of the FCS Playoffs.
The road ahead matches up the Bears with the Lamar Cardinals at Estes Stadium in Conway, AR, on Saturday, October 22nd, 2016. The Cardinals are 3-3 overall and 3-1 in Southland Conference play.
This game is Homecoming for the UCA, with kickoff at 6:00 C.T.
